As part of its ongoing mission to “Foster Excellence in Education” in the students of Manheim Central, the Manheim Central Foundation for Educational Enrichment (MCFEE) is again sponsoring the awarding of Venture and Business Tax Credit Program Grants to individual faculty members and departments for the 2009-2010 academic year.
Guidelines and an application for the grant program are attached. The same application form may be used for Venture Grants as well as for Business Tax Credit Program Grants that are provided through the Educational Improvement Tax Credit Initiative of the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED). Both the guidelines and application are also available on the MCFEE website, www.mcfee4kids.org. The Venture Grants to be awarded will be chosen, as in past year, by a committee comprised of professional staff representatives, district administrators and MCFEE Trustees. Business Tax Credit Program Grants must first be approved by the DCED and are dependent on the amount of funds contributed by eligible local businesses. The DCED has frequently been supportive of grants that bring guest educators, artists and musicians into the school as well as grants that involve technology and equipment purchases related to advanced academics. The likelihood that a Business Tax Credit Program Grant will be approved as one for which Business Tax Credit monies may be used is increased substantially, but not guaranteed, if the grant falls into one of these two broad categories. Typed or computer generated applications are to be submitted to Kathy Bower, Executive Director of MCFEE. They may be mailed or delivered to 101 South Penn Street or emailed to kbower@mcfee4kids.org . All grant applications must be received no later than the close of school on Wednesday, April 15, 2009.
